A late entry, but we have some video of Jessica’s vocal
music concert last March. This is a concert with a
couple of the 1st/2nd grade classes from her school.
She has a couple of featured roles up front in addition

last school year. Last week she participated in her

Alex's Orchestra Concert
June, 18 2014 09:55 PM
Jessica isn’t the only one who’s been busy. Alex has
been studying Cello all year as part of the 5th grade
music program. In May they did their annual concert and
Alex played in the orchestra. We have posted a video of
the concert on the Movies page so you can see how much
he learned on the cello this year.
After playing cello for his first year, Alex has decided he would like to try viola instead. He will be taking viola lessons this summer and may be playing ir next year in the orchestra instead of cello if he continues to like it.

New bike rider!
June, 15 2014 09:40 PM
By the end of last year Jessica was almost but not
quite riding a bike on her own. Well this weekend we
started practicing again, and in short order she was
riding on her own! After her practice, she was ready to
show off for the world via video.
Jessie's Good Morning Song
June, 17 2012 11:29 AM
This is Sue and Jessie’s typical morning routing when
waking up for school. Sue tries to sing Jessie the Good
Morning Song, and Jessie... well, see for yourself in
the latest movie we just added to the Movies page.
Alex's Class Play
April, 17 2011 02:20 PM
Last week Alex’s 1/2 grade class performed a play for
the school. It is a retelling of a book they read as a
class, but the interpretation as a play is all their
own. A movie of the performance is available on the
Movies page. Sorry that the audio is kind of hard to
make out -- that’s the best a handheld camera could do
in that large auditorium.
Alex's First Karate Tournament
March, 28 2011 10:05 PM
Last weekend, Alex participated in his very first
karate tournament. He has been doing karate for a
little over a year now (since January, 2010) so this
was a big deal to him.
The tournament was organized by his karate teacher, but included a number of other schools from the area so the turnout was pretty good. Alex participated in two competitions: a forms competition, where he had to demonstrate the green belt form (a set series of moves); and second a sparring competition, where he sparred against two other kids at his age and belt level. Because this was a mixed youth and adult tournament, he ended up competing against 2 other kids in each event, since it was restricted by age and belt level.
Alex did great in both competitions. He did very well with his form, coming in second of the three contestants. He did even better in sparring, winning both of his matches and really sticking in there all the way to the end both times.
You can see a video of each of his competitions (forms and 2 sparring matches) on the movies page. We’re very proud of him!
